Built by someone who's been in the room.
Ligobyte is a one-person software shop in Minnesota. That means when you hire us, you get the person who actually does the work — not a project manager who relays your requirements to someone offshore.
I'm Sean Godinez. I've been writing software professionally for over 15 years across some of the most demanding environments software gets deployed in.
I started in defense — writing the targeting system for the Desert Hawk III UAV at Lockheed Martin, and contributing to a $360M radio communications project. From there I moved into medical devices at Medtronic, securing BLE communication between Android devices and implantable hardware — the kind of work where a bug has consequences well beyond a bad review.
I spent years in enterprise — at Best Buy scaling a web platform to handle 65,000 requests per second on Black Friday, inventing edge computing techniques that earned six US patents, and later as Senior Engineering Manager leading the platform team. At Target I built a real-time service dependency mapping system used for operational intelligence across the organization.
In between I ran a consulting company for over a decade, which took me through IoT hardware at Multi-Tech Systems (the company that builds LoRa gateways), LoRaWAN firmware for industrial controllers, Kafka pipelines processing millions of medical claims, and most recently, embedding AI into software delivery pipelines at an enterprise scale.
I served nine years in the Army National Guard as a Combat Medic, including an active deployment to Afghanistan. That experience shapes how I work — clearly, under pressure, with accountability for the outcome.
Ligobyte exists because I want to build things that matter, help other companies do the same, and do it without the overhead of a large agency between us.
